(Ciaran Dunne), Agent, who also breezed an eighth in :9 3/5 on Thursday. She’s out of graded stakes placed Miss Mary Apples, by Clever Trick, and is a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Dr. Diamonds Prize.
Hip No. 899, a bay colt by Union Rags consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, was sold for $1,000,000 to Red Baron’s Barn & Rancho Temescal LLC. A half brother to graded stakes winner Carinosa out of Poco Mas, by A.P. Indy, he worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at Friday’s Under Tack session.
Hip No. 616, a daughter of Colonel John consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, went to Cromwell Bloodstock for $425,000. Frank Fletcher Racing Operations went to $400,000 for Hip No. 848, a bay colt by Into Mischief consigned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC, whose quarter in :20 3/5 was the fastest work at the distance at Friday’s Under Tack session. He’s a half brother to Oh So Regal, third in the recent Mine That Bird Derby, out of Oh So Nice, by Smart Strike, a half sister to stakes winner Dynamic Cat.

The gray or roan colt, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 last Thursday, is a full brother to stakes winner Chief Kitten out of Laca, by Cherokee Run.
Alex & JoAnn Lieblong went to $300,000 for Hip No. 694, a gray or roan colt by Tapit out of grade one stakes winner Lighthouse Bay, by Speightstown. Consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, he worked an Under Tack quarter in :21 3/5 on Thursday.
Hip No. 724, a daughter of Soldat consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Klaravich Stable, Inc. for $300,000. The bay filly, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5, is out of Lyrique, by Rock Hard Ten, a daughter of graded stakes placed stakes winner America America.
Doubles Partners Stables paid $300,000 for Hip No. 731, a son of Shackleford who worked a quarter in :21 1/5 on Thursday. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, the chestnut colt is out of Make a Promise, by Mr. Greeley, a half sister to graded stakes winner Essence.
Hip No. 670, a chestnut filly by Discreet Cat consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Marette Farrell, Agent for Ryan Exline, for $260,000. A full sister to grade one stakes placed Colorful Charades out of stakes winner Laila’s Punch, by Two Punch, she breezed an eighth in :10 flat on Thursday.
Gayle Van Leer, Agent, paid $260,000 for Hip No. 713, a son of Into Mischief consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent. The bay colt, who breezed a quarter in :21 2/5 on Thursday, is a full brother to stakes placed Perched out of Love Catcher, by Pine Bluff.
James Bashor went to $250,000 for Hip No. 657, a dark bay or brown colt by Paynter consigned by Price Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent. Out of stakes winner La Concerto, by Aptitude, he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack session.
For the day, 171 horses brought a total of $17,397,500 compared with 164 selling for a total of $13,987,500 at last year’s third session. The average price was $101,740, up 19.3% from $85,290 in 2016 while the median price rose to $50,000 from $48,500 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 13.2%; it was 23.4% last year. Fifteen horses brought $250,000 or more compared with twelve at last year’s third session.
