Frank Conversation scores in Santa Anita’s Twilight Derby

Reddam Racing’s Frank Conversation circled horses on the turn from well off the pace in Friday’s $201, 725 Twilight Derby (G2) on Friday at Santa Anita, wore down the leaders in the lane and was up late to win by half a length. It’s the second graded stakes win for the the 3-year-old colt by Quality Road, trained by Doug O’Neill, now 10-4-0-1 with $353,795 in earnings. He sold for $120,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, to Dennis O’Neill at the 2015 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Gary Barber’s Vanish was a maiden going into Woodbine’s $150,000 Clarendon Stakes on Saturday, but the 2-year-old colt by Algorithms came with a strong late run and got up at the wire to win by nose. The first stakes winner for his sire, he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased for $110,000 out of the Julie Davies consignment at the 2016 OBS April Sale.
