Fish Trappe Road, Coppa take graded stakes at Belmont Park

Martin Racing Stable LLC’s Fish Trappe Road took charge of Saturday’s $500, 000 Dwyer Stakes (G3) at Belmont after straightening away in the stretch then eased away and won by a length and a quarter. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Trappe Shot, now 9-3-3-0 with $518,185 in earnings for trainer Bret Calhoun. Consigned by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, to the 2015 OBS March Sale, he worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before going to Martin Racing for $95,000. watch his under tack video

Anthony Fanticola and Joseph Scardino’s unbeaten Coppa is three for three and a graded stakes winner after holding off a pair of challengers in the final furlong and taking Belmont’s $150,000 Victory Ride Stakes (G3) by a neck. The 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Yesbyjimminy is a two time OBS graduate, going through the ring at the 2014 August Sale before she was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock, Agent, for $210,000  out of the Blue River Bloodstock consignment at the 2015 April Sale after an Under Tack eighth in:10 flat. BB Horses’ Sweet On Smokey scored her third stakes victory on Saturday at Delaware Park, getting up in the final yards to win the $50,125 Dashing Beauty Stakes by a head. It’s the third win in seven trips to the post this year for the 4-year-old filly by Successful Appeal, trained by Claudio Gonzalez, now 29-9-5-5 with $340,070 in earnings. She was sold for $20,000 at the 2014 OBS April Sale by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, after working a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
