X Y Jet wins the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes

Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet tuned up for a trip to Dubai in Saturday’s $100, 000 Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes (G3), taking the lead at the start, opening up daylight with a half in :43 4/5 and reporting home first by a length and a quarter. That’s five straight wins for 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, a two time OBS graduate, first consigned by Two Sharp Hats to the 2013 Winter Mixed Sale before they sold him for $56,000 at the 2013 August Yearling Sale. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he has two graded stakes wins, a 14-6-5-1 record and earnings of $365,653. King of Prussia Stable’s Mo d’Amour picked up her first stakes win in the $125, 000 Busher Stakes at Aqueduct, taking charge a furlong from home and cruising to a two length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Katniss the Victor (March ’15) checking in third. The 3-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo, trained by Todd Pletcher, is now 5-3-0-1 and has earned $147,940 to date. Consigned by Wodside Ranch, Agent, to the 2015 OBS March Sale, she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 before she was purchased by Joseph Brocklebank, Agent, for $75.000. watch her under tack video

Westside Rentals.com, Neil Haymes, Leo Rodriguez and Steve Rothblum’s Guns Loaded put his back class to good use in the $79,190 Joe Hernandez Stakes over the downhill turf course at Santa Anita, stalking the leader into the stretch, taking command a furlong from home and drawing away to win by 2-1/4 lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of D’wildcat, second in Del Mar’s Best Pal Stakes (G2) at two. Trained by Doug O’Neill, he’s now 25-7-4-3-4 and has earned $346,570.  A two time OBS graduate, he was sold by Equest Thoroughbreds, Inc. to Welcome Gate Farm at the 2012 August Sale and then resold by Welcome Gate for $175,000 at the 2013 April Sale after breezing a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Newport Stables LLC’s American Sailor scored his first stakes win in the $50,000 Bucharest Turf Sprint Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park, leading from start to finish and beating fellow OBS graduate El Botas (June ’13) by a length in his first start for his new connections. Consigned by Silver Star to the 2014 OBS April Sale, he sped an eighth in :9 4/5 before being sold for $100,000.  Trained now by Joe Sharp, the 4-year-old son of City Zip has a 10-4-1-1 record and earnings of $130,990. watch his under tack video

Get Away Farm’s Two Step Time, second in the OBS Championship Stakes in his last start, came running late in the stretch of the $50,000 Texas Heritage Stakes and was up in the final strides to win by a neck. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Two Step Salsa, trained by Mike Maker, now 6-3-1-1 with $93,250 in earnings. A three time veteran of the OBS Sale ring, he was purchased by Get Away Farm for $27,000 out of the Abbie Road Farm consignment at the 2013 Fall Mixed Sale before going through the ring at the 2015 April and June Sales. watch his under tack video
