Tammy the Torpedo takes Gulfstream’s Suwannee River Stakes

Long Lake Stable LLC and Beacon Hill Thoroughbreds LLC’s Tammy the Torpedo took the lead at the start of Gulfstream Park’s $150, 000 Suwannee River Stakes (G2) on Saturday and was never headed en route to a length and a half victory.  It’s the first graded stakes win for the 4-year-old filly by More Than Ready, trained by Chad Brown, now 7-4-0-1 with $243,710 in earnings. She was purchased for $225,000 out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

C R K  Stable’s Kobe’s Back  got his 5-year-old campaign off to a rousing start in Sunday’s $200,000 Palos Verdes Stakes (G3), closing from last turning for home and getting up late to win by half a length. That’s three graded stakes wins for the son of Flatter, sold for $480,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2013 OBS March Sale after an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Peter Eurton, he’s now 17-4-3-2 and has earned $772,250.  watch his under tack video

Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman, on vacation since her narrow defeat in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), returned to action on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, making short work of the $75,000 Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes. Taking the lead shortly after the start, the 4-year-old Midshipman filly drew away with ease in the stretch and scored by 2-3/4 lengths. Now trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, her seventh stakes win leaves her with a 13-9-2-2 record and earnings of $583,905. Consigned by Pleasant Acres Farm, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale, she sped an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Joe Ragsdale’s Marquee Miss picked up her second straight stakes win in Saturday’s $100,000 Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn Park, battling down the stretch and getting up in the final yards by half a length. Fellow OBS graduate Dorodansa (June ’15) checked in third. Trained by Ingrid Mason, the 3-year-old Cowboy Cal filly is now 6-3-0-0 and has earned $164,925 to date. She was sold for $20,000 by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, to Mr. Ragsdale after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the 2015 OBS June Sale’s Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

Jerry Hollendorfer, Steve Melen, Steve Taub and George Todaro’s Kiss N Scat made her 3-year-old debut in Saturday’s $65,870 California Oaks on Saturday, took the lead a furlong from home and won by a length and three quarters. It’s the first stakes win for the filly by Scat Daddy, purchased for $85,000 out of Sescan LLC consignment by Christina Jelm, Agent for Jerry Hollendorfer, at the 2015 OBS April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Under the care of Hollendorfer, she’s now 5-3-1-0 and has earned $77,500.  watch her under tack video

Fruition Racing LLC’s Stormdriver scored his fourth stakes win in the $200,000 La. Bred Premier Night Championship Stakes at Delta Down on Saturday, taking charge late and drawing off to win by a length and a quarter. The 6-year-old of Discreet Cat, trained by Patrick Devereux, Jr., is now 32-8-3-8 and has earned $451,677.  He was sold by Mecco Sales (Mary Ellen Coenen), Agent, for $36,000 at the 2011 OBS August Sale. Selected Sale conformation photo

Roger G. Smith’s Smittys Cougar went right to the front in Saturday’s $125,000 La. Bred Premier Night Starlet Stakes at Delta Downs and never looked back on her way to a three length victory. That’s two straight stakes wins for the 3-year-old filly by Half Ours, consigned by Robert Brewer to the 2015 OBS March Sale, where she worked an eighth in :10 flat. Trained by Ron Faucheux, the victory gives her a 6-4-0-2 record and $192,312 in earnings. watch her under tack video
