Moanin takes Tokyo’s February Stakes in track record time

KM Racing Enterprise Inc. and Head of Plains Partners LLC’s Paulina’s Love picked up her first stakes win in style at Santa Anita on Saturday, taking the lead on the turn, drawing clear in the stretch and holding off a late challenge to win the $202,070 Buena Vista Stakes (G2) by a neck. It’s the second straight win for the 4-year-old filly by Mizzen Mast, trained by Richard Baltas, now 13-4-3-3 with $304,990 in earnings. Consigned by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale, she worked a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show before she was purchased by Gayle Van Leer, Agent, for $100,000. watch her under tack video

Champion Racing Stable’s Haveyougoneaway scored her second straight stakes victory at the Oaklawn Park meeting, coming from well off the pace and taking the $100,000 Spring Fever Stakes by 2-3/4 lengths. That’s three stakes wins for the 5-year-old daughter of Congrats, consigned to the 2013 OBS June Sale by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, where she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Allen Milligan, the win leaves her 21-8-2-6 with $373,425 in earnings. watch her under tack video

Kretz Racing LLC’s Iron Rob stepped into stakes company for the first time on Sunday in the $77,380 Baffle Stakes over the downhill turf course at Santa Anita, took over turning for home and scored by half a length. A two time OBS graduate by Twirling Candy, he went through the ring at the 2014 August Sale before he was sold for $90,000 at the 2015 April Sale by Hemingway Racing and Training Stables to Gayle Van Leer, Agent, after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by George Papaprodromou, he’s now 9-2-2-0 and has earned $110,520. watch his under tack video

William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Cinco Charlie gave nothing else a chance in Saturday’s $60,000 Duncan F. Kenner Stakes at Fair Grounds, taking the lead at the break and never looking back on his way to a 2-3/4 length victory. The 4-year-old graded stakes winning son of Indian Charlie was purchased for $190,000 out of the Cary Frommer consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 Under Tack Show. Richard Perkins & Hinsley Racing Stable’s You Bought Her successfully defended her title in Tampa Bay Downs’ $50,000 Minaret Stakes on Saturday, circling horses on the turn, taking over in the lane and drawing away to a 4-1/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate R Sassy Lass (April ’14) reported home third.  Trained by David Hinsley, the 6-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Graeme Hall was purchased by Richard Perkins for $18,000 out of the Southern Cypress Stable consignment at the 2012 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show.
