Collected captures Santa Anita’s Sham Stakes

Speedway Stable LLC’s Collected was hung out to dry around the first turn of the $100, 750 Sham Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Santa Anita, finally took command at the quarter pole and cruised from there to a length and a quarter victory. Switching to the dirt after a second place finish in the Cecil B. DeMille Stakes on the Del Mar turf course, the 3-year-old colt by City Zip, trained by Bob Baffert, is now 3-2-1-0 and has earned $111,200 to date. Consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds (Steven Venosa), Agent, to the 2015 OBS March Sale, he was purchased by Speedway Stable for $170,000 after turning in an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Winning Stables, Inc. and Midnight Rider LLC’s Fast Flying Rumor took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $90,000 Turf Dash Stakes and never looked back, opening up and winning by 4-3/4 lengths, running five furlongs in a swift :55 flat. It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by West Acre, trained by Gerald Bennett, now 15-5-5-0 with $180,795 in earnings. He breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the 2104 OBS June Sale before he was sold for $35,000 by Texhoma, Inc. (Flint Fesmire), Agent. watch his under tack video
