Unbeaten colts Riker, Airoforce score Sunday graded stakes wins

Tucci Stables’ unbeaten Riker could be heading for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) after leading from gate to wire en route to a 1-1/2 length victory in Sunday’s $150, 000 Grey Stakes (G3) at Woodbine. Fellow OBS graduate Tizzarunner (March ’15) checked in third. After four wins in as many starts for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez, the 2-year-old colt by Include has earned $209,049 to date. He was sold for $60,000 by Paul Sharp, Agent, at the 2015 OBS April Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.  watch his under tack video

John C. Oxley’s Airoforce is two for two and a graded stakes winner after coming from off the pace and scoring in Sunday’s $250,000 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes on the turf course at Keeneland. The 2-year-old son of Colonel John sped a quarter in :21 flat before he was purchased for $350,000 out of the Richardson Bloodstock consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale. Trained by Mark Casse, he’s earned $222,000 to date. watch his under tack video

Doubledown Stables’ Ben’s Duchess was last in a field of five early in the $100,000 L.A. Woman Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita on Sunday, but the 3-year-old Munnings filly circled her rivals on the turn, took the lead a furlong from the wire and drew away to a 3-1/4 length victory. Trained by John Sadler, she picked up her first stakes win while improving her record to 9-4-1-4 and increasing her earnings to $222,936. The two time OBS graduate was sold by Top Line Sales, Agent, at the 2013 August Yearling Sale and then resold for $170,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2014 March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch her under tack video   Selected Sale conformation photo

Thoroughbred Acquisition Group and Joseph Saffie’s Saraguaro picked up his first stakes win on Saturday in the $150,000 Florida Sire Foolish Pleasure Stakes with a determined run that carried him past the leaders in the stretch to a two length victory. The 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Express Tour is a two-time OBS graduate, first purchased by Jose Munoz out of the Hickory Meadow Farm (Clare Silva) consignment at the 2013 August Yearling Sale. After breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 prior to the 2014 April Sale, he was sold by Mr. Munoz to Mr. Saffie for $33,000. N.T.S. Stable and Kathryn Davey’s Andreya’s Reward circled horses to reach contention in the stretch of the $75,000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream, took command in the final furlong and scored by two lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Warrior’s Reward filly, traind by Milt Wolfson, now 3-2-0-0 with $76,380 in earnings. She was sold by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co. for $15,000 at the 2015 OBS June Sale after working a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Pinnacle Racing Stable and Norman Stables’ Moment of Delight scored her first stakes win at Gulfstream on Saturday, romping to a 6-1/4 length victory in the $150,000 Florida Sire Meadow Star Stakes. A 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of A. P. Warrior, she breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was sold for $58,000 to Pinnacle Racing by Southern Cypress Stable, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale. Trained by Bill Kaplan, she’s now 12-3-4-1 and has earned $296,420.  watch her under tack video

Theresa Horky’s Worth the Worry took command of the $75,800 Last Dance Stakes at Suffolk Downs on Saturday on the second turn and ran away from there, galloping to an easy 9-1/2 length victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Hook and Ladder, trained by Jonathan Buckley, now 16-9-2-1 with $138,880 in earnings. He was consigned by Sharon Biamonte to the 2012 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.
