Cajun Spirit scores in Louisiana Downs’ A.L. (Red) Irvin Stakes

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Cajun Spirit slipped through on the rail to take command of Saturday’s $75, 000 A.L. (Red) Irwin Stakes at Louisiana Downs in the final furlong and he eased away from there to a 1-1/2 length victory. It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old gelding by Bernstein, purchased for $120,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Dallas Stewart, he’s now 8-2-1-0, and has earned $82,459. watch his under tack video

Keith Plaisance’s Pacific Pink posted her third stakes win of the year on Saturday in the $75,000 Elge Rasberry Stakes at Louisiana Downs. The 3-year-old daughter of Private Vow took the lead after turning for home then drew off in the stretch to a five length victory. Consigned by Robert Brewer to the 2014 OBS April Sale, she was sold to Nick Hines, Agent, for $90,000 after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 9-5-2-2 for trainer Edward Johnston, she has earned $231,300 to date.  watch her under tack video

Highland Yard LLC’s Amaranth went to the front at the start of the $65,000 Asparagus Stakes on Saturday at Stockton and was never headed en route to a 3-1/2 length victory. That’s four stakes wins for the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. Greeley, trained by O. J. Juaregui, leaving her with a 15-6-1-1 record and $274,596 in earnings. After working an eighth in :10 flat at the 2013 OBS April Sale’s Under Tack Show, she was purchased for $150,000 by Dominic Brennan on behalf of Highland Yard out of the Old South Farm consignment. watch her under tack video
