Broken Vow filly tops Yearling Sale’s first Open session

Hip No. 463, Morning Dance, a chestnut filly by Broken Vow consigned by Southern Cypress Stable LLC, Agent, was sold for $70,000 to H & E Ranch to top the first Open session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 August Yearling Sale. She’s out of Morning Sky, by Mt. Livermore, a daughter of graded stakes winner Radiant Megan.

Southern Cypress also consigned Hip No. 351, a daughter of Temple City sold to de Meric Stables, Agent, for $65,000. The dark bay or brown filly, a half sister to stakes winning OBS graduate Solomon Bay, is out of stakes placed Hopi, by Cox’s Ridge, herself a half sister to graded stakes winner Pima.

Hip No. 389, a dark bay or brown filly by Kantharos consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, was sold for $65,000 to Stonestreet Stables LLC. She’s out of stakes winner Kickapoo Princess, by Unreal Zeal.

Hip No. 244, a daughter of Gemologist consigned by Select Sales, Agent, was sold to Quarter Pole Enterprises LLC for $60,000. The bay filly is out of Dreamscape, by Mt. Livermore, and is a half sister to stakes winner Tax Refund.

Hip No. 289, a dark bay or brown colt by Maclean’s Music, was sold to Woodford Sales for $57,000. Consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, he’s out of Fleet Ryan, by Forestry, a daughter of stakes placed Brown Eyed Lass.

Hip No. 483, a daughter of Adios Charlie also brought $57,000, purchased by Bryan Rice from Oakleaf Farm (Liz & Norman Wilson), Agent. The bay filly is out of Ourlady of Liberty, by Sky Mesa, a daughter of stakes winner Rush to Glory.

Redwings went to $55,000 for Hip No. 419, a son of Adios Charlie consigned by Thoroughstock, Agent. The bay colt is out of Looks Like a Gem, by Distant View, from the family of stakes winner Alltheway Bertie.

Hip No. 320, a son of First Dude consigned by Perrone Sales, Ltd., Agent, was sold to de Meric Stables, Agent, for $52,000. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Grazettes Muchacha, by D’wildcat, a half sister to stakes winner Grazettes Landing.

Southern Chase Farm, Inc., Agent, went to $52,000 for Hip No. 431, a bay First Dude filly consigned by Abbie Road Farm (Lisa McGreevy), Agent. She’s out of Magnolia’s Sister, by Rizzi, a half sister to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Magnolia Jackson.

For the session, 206 horses brought a total of $3,109,700, compared with 266 yearlings grossing $3,503,000 at last year’s first Open session. The average price was $15,096 up 14.6% over $13,169 in 2014, while the median price rose 13.9% from $9,000 a year ago to $10,250. The buyback percentage was 20.8%; it was 26.1% last year.

The Open Yearling Sale’s final session begins Thursday at 11 a.m. It will again be streamed live via the OBS, Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites.
