Arch filly tops Selected Yearling Sale

Hip No. 214, a daughter of Arch consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, went to Niall Brennan, Agent for Marc Keller for $320,000 to top the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Selected Yearling Sale. The bay filly is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Citizen Advocate, by Proud Citizen.

Hip No. 190, a son of Gemologist consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, was sold  to Gary S. Broad for $280,000. The bay colt is out of stakes placed Bailzee, by Grand Slam, a daughter of graded stakes winner Golden Gale.

Hip No. 186, another son of Gemologist consigned by Summerfield, was sold to Patrice Miller, EQB, Inc., Agent for Zayat Stables LLC, for $240,000. The chestnut colt, a half brother to stakes placed True to You, is out of April True, by Yes It’s True.

Summerfield also consigned Hip No. 131, a daughter of The Factor purchased by Quarter Pole Enterprises LLC for $160,000. The gray or roan filly is out of stakes winner Silver Cub, by City Zip, a half sister to stakes winner Silver Heart.

Hip No. 94, a chestnut filly by Hansen consigned by Select Sales, Agent, went to W.D. North Thoroughbreds LLC for $110,000. She’s out of Point Empress, by Empire Maker, from the family of graded stakes winner Fair Judgement.

Hip No. 202, a bay filly by Scat Daddy consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, was sold for $150,000 to de Meric Stables, Agent. She’s out of stakes placed Bridge and Tunnel, by Lemon Drop Kid, a daughter of stakes placed Devious Dame.

Hip No. 216, a son of Shackleford consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, was sold to de Meric Stables, Agent, for $130,000. The chestnut colt, a half brother to stakes placed Classy Gem, is out of Classiest Gem, by Dehere.

Hip No. 207 also went to de Meric Stables, Agent, with the son of Into Mischief selling for $120,000. Consigned by Select Sales, Agent, the dark bay or brown colt is out of Cayman Colada, by Yonaguska, a daughter of graded stakes placed Miss Maggie.

Hip No. 191, a dark bay or brown filly by Broken Vow consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent for BryLyn Farm, was sold for $115,000 to Thor-Bred Stables LLC. Out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Baldomera, by Doneraile Court, she’s a half sister to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Big John B, who successfully defended his title in the Del Mar Handicap (G2) last Saturday.

Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, went to $100,000 for Hip No. 38, a daughter of Uncle Mo consigned by M.E.C.C.O. Sales LLC (Mary Ellen Coenen), Agent. The bay filly, out of Joyful Wager, by Valid Wager, is a half sister to stakes winner Wild About Marie.

Hip No. 110, a chestnut colt by Maclean’s Music consigned by Northwest Stud, Agent, was sold for $100,000 to Redwings. He’s out of River Glow, by In Excess (IRE), a half sister to graded stakes winner Lucky J.H.

For the day, 144 horses sold for a total of $6,609,000, compared with 170 yearlings bringing $7,830,700 at the 2014 Selected Sale. The average price was $45,896 compared with $46,063 last year, while the median was $35,000, identical to the figure attained in 2014.  The buyback percentage was 25%; it was 27% a year ago.

The sale continues Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the first of two Open sessions. It will again be streamed live via the OBS, Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites.
