Yukio Baba’s millionaire Best Warrior defended his title in the Procyon Stakes (G3) on Sunday at Chukyo Racecourse in Japan, charging between horses in deep stretch and drawing away to a two length score. (race video) It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old horse by Majestic Warrior, now 19-8-4-2 with earnings of $2,309,753. Ballybrit Stable, LLC’s Gallery found Belmont’s turf course to his linking on Sunday, taking the lead at the start and holding on gamely to win the $95,000 Manila Stakes by a nose. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Munnings, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $30,000 out of the Halcyon Hammock consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale.
