Distinctiv Passion, Majestic City post Memorial Day graded wins

Edward J.  Brown, Jr., Alan Klein and Phillip Lebherz’s Distinctiv Passion bounced right to the lead in the $100, 000 Los Angeles Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita on Memorial Day, led by daylight into deep stretch, then held off a late charge by favored San Onofre and scored by a neck. Fellow OBS graduate Wild Dude (April ’12, October ’10) checked in third. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of With Distinction, trained by Jeff Bonde, now 18-9-1-4 with $513,660 in earnings. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold first by Kaizen Sales, Agent for Plumley Farms, at the 2011 OBS January Sale before bringing $65,000 when purchased out of the Kim Harrison consignment at the 2011 OBS August Sale. Selected Sale conformation photo

Jeffrey Bloom’s Majestic City battled for the lead from the start of Monday’s $200,000 Lone Star Park Handicap (G3), refused to yield in to the stretch then eased away in the final sixteenth and won by two lengths. His second graded win and fourth stakes score gives the 6-year-old son of City Zip, trained by Richard Baltas, a 25-5-4-4 record and $579,210 in earnings. Consigned by Bo Hunt, Agent, to the 2011 OBS March Sale, he was sold for $180,000 after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video 

Peter Redekop’s Go West Marie added Santa Anita’s $125,750 Fran’s Valentine Stakes to her resume on Saturday, circling horses on the turn to get into contention, taking command in the final furlong and winning by a length and a quarter. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 4-year-old graded stakes placed Western Fame filly, sold for $52,000 by Mayberry Farm, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Eddie Truman, she’s now 20-7-2-5 and has earned $557,520. watch her under tack video 

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Empire Dreams had one horse beaten on the turn in Monday’s $200,000 Commentator Stakes at Belmont, but he came to the outside turning for home, passed the rest of the field in the stretch, and posted a three quarter length victory. Trained by Tom Albertrani, the 4-year-old colt by Patriot Act has compiled a 13-4-5-1 record with three stakes wins and $463,667 in earnings. Consigned to the 2013 OBS April Sale by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, he was purchased by West Point for $35,000 after working an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5.  watch his under tack video
