Peter Redekop’s Go West Marie was blocked when Gary Stevens tried to send her through on the fence a furlong from home in Santa Anita’s $100, 500 Irish O’Brien Stakes, but she swung ouside, found room and was up late to win by half a length. It’s the third straight win for the 4-year-old filly by Western Fame, trained by Eddie Truman, now 18-6-1-5 with $462,520 in earnings.
