Saratoga Heater scores in Belmont’s Bertram F. Bongard Stakes

P. R. Racing’s Saratoga Heater jumped into stakes company off a maiden win in August, went to the front in Saturday’s $150, 000 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes at Belmont and was never headed, splashing to a four length victory over fellow OBS graduate Bullheaded Boy (June ’14). A 2-year-old colt by Temple City, he was sold for $100,000 by Grassroots Training & Sales, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Newtown Anner Stud’s Ol Donyo hugged the rail and rallied on the turn in Gulfstream’s $75,000 Musical Romance Stakes on Saturday, took over in the lane and cruised to a comfortable 3-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes score for the 4-year-old daughter of Curlin, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 before being purchased for $100,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2012 OBS April Sale. Charlie J. Williams’ Crafty Blue Kat picked up her second stakes win on Sunday in the $50,000 Scarlet & Gray Handicap at Thistledown, finishing in dead heat with Floral Sky. The 3-year-old filly by Sky Mesa is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Sharon Biamonte, Agent, at the 2012 August Sale before being consigned by Boutte Sales, Agent, to the 2013 April Sale and working a quarter in :22 3/5.
