Go West Marie takes Del Mar’s Fleet Treat Stakes

Peter Redekop’s Go West Marie is enjoying life on the west coast after moving to California in June, taking command of the $200, 000 Fleet Treat Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday on the turn and outfighting fellow OBS graduate Wonderful Lie (April ’12) down the stretch, proving best by half a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Western Fame, now 11-3-1-2 with earnings of $228,280. Magalen O. Bryant’s V.E. Day tried stakes company for the first time in Friday’s $100,000 Curlin Stakes at Saratoga. Last of nine in the early going, he saved ground on the turn before swinging out for the drive, closing on the outside and battling his way to winning a three-horse photo by a head. With a 5-3-1-0 record after his first stakes victory, the 3-year-old colt by English Channel has earned $159,010 to date. Mike Maker’s Burn the Mortgage picked up his first stakes win in Saturday’s $75,000 Eight Miles East Stakes at Gulfstream, charging between horses to take command after turning for home and drawing away to a 4-1/2 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Decisive Moment (April ’10). The 5-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before he was purchased for $18,000 by Tim Kegel, Agent, out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2011 OBS April Sale. Mr. Amore Stable’s Miss d’Oro picked up her second stakes win on Saturday after battling to a neck decision in the $75,000 Power by Far Handicap at Parx Racing. A 5-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, she was sold for $50,000 by Bo Hunt, Agent, to Ron Lombardi’s Mr. Amore Stables LLC at the 2011 OBS March Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 4/5. Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Heat Transfer is two for three and a stakes winner after prompting the pace in Saturday’s $50,000 Miss Ohio Stakes at Thistledown and proving best by half a length at the wire. A 2-year-old daughter of Latent Heat, she was sold to Vince J. Foglia for $190,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2014 OBS March Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.
