E B Ryder takes Gulfstream’s Anka Germania Stakes

Miller Racing LLC’s E B Ryder  relaxed well of the pace in Saturday’s $90, 000 Anka Germania Stakes at Gulfstream Park, circled horses on the turn, then charged down the lane and got up to win by half a length over fellow OBS graduate Adriani (March ’12). It’s the second stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Bluegrass Cat, consigned by Casse Sales, Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale. All American Horses LLC’s Florida Sun saved ground in the early going of Calder’s $65,000 Leave Me Alone Stakes on Saturday, moved out to find room turning for home then rallied down the stretch, hit the front in the final sixteenth and scored by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Curlin’s Gold (April ’13) checked  in third.  It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Belgravia, now 7-2-1-3 with earnings of $78,758. A two time OBS graduate, she was sold first by Oak Vale Farm at the 2012 August Sale, then resold for $15,000 by Mayberry Farm, Agent, at the 2013 June Sale after working an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

Acclaimed Racing Stable’s Mr. Baker posted his first stakes victory in Calder’s $65,000 Ponche Handicap on Saturday, taking command at the top to the stretch and drawing off to win by 2-1/2 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Trinni Heart (June ’12) settling for third.  It’s the third straight win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Imperialism, sold for $18,000 by breeder Get Away Farm at the 2011 OBS Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :22 flat. He’s now 14-5-2-2 and has earned $128,974 to date. watch his under tack video

Ronald Ulrich’s King Henry defended his title in Saturday’s $50,000 Penn Dash Stakes at Penn National, taking the lead at the start and staying there all the way, reporting home by a length and three quarters over fellow OBS graduate Evolution Rocks (August ’10). Sold for $17,000 by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2009 OBS August Sale, the 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Congrats is now 43-11-12-8 and has earned $332,584. Selected Yearling Sale photo

James L. Driver and H. Ywachetta’s Rivers Run Deep has found a home at Belterra Park, scoring his second straight lopsided victory, this time going wire to wire and taking the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes by ten lengths following his 12-3/4 length win in last month’s Tall Stack Stakes. The 3-year-old colt by Ready’s Image was sold by Rod McVey, Agent, for $77,000 to Garry Simms, Agent for James Driver, at the 2013 OBS June Sale after he worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. He’s now 9-3-3-1 and has earned $151,800. watch his under tack video
