Falling Sky, Parranda win Gulfstream graded stakes

Lone Stable LLC’s Parranda gave none of her rivals a chance in Saturday’s $150, 000 Suwannee River Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream, taking command at the start and cruising to a two length victory. It’s the first graded stakes win for the the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of English Channel, now 20-8-2-2 with $448,655 in earnings. She was sold for $13,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Newtown Anner Stud and Joseph Bulger’s Falling Sky was overlooked at 14-1 in the $100,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes (G3), but he took the lead quickly, set a sizzling pace (;21 3/5, :44 3/5 1:07 4/5), then drew off in the final furlong and won by 5-1/2 lengths. The time for seven furlongs was 1:20 3/5, just one tick off the track record. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Lion Heart, who topped the Horses of Racing Age section of the 2013 OBS Winter Mixed Sale when purchased for $425,000 out of the Off the Hook consignment. Patti and Hal J. Earnhardt III’s Be Proud scored her first stakes win on Saturday at Golden Gate with a front-running three length victory in the $65,105 California Oaks. The 3-year-old filly by Proud Citizen, now 8-2-45-0 with $117,950 in earnings, was sold for $125,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2013 OBS April Sale after she worked a quarter in :21 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
