Montbrook filly tops Winter Mixed Sale’s Opening Session

Hip No. 236, Back to Class, a Montbrook filly consigned by Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. (Brent & Crystal Fernung), Agent, was sold to Adena Springs for $85,000 to top the Consignor Preferred Session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 Winter Mixed Sale. The 4-year-old chestnut filly is out of Cut Class Leanne, by Cutlass, and is a full sister to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Chapel Royal.

Journeyman also consigned Hip No. 79, Missy Rules, a 4-year-old stakes winning daughter of Peace Rules, sold to Donato Lanni, Agent, for $80,000. The bay filly, out of Missy McKee, by Silver Deputy, is a half sister to graded stakes winner Umpateedle.

Ken & Sarah Ramsey went to $75,000 for Hip No. 149, Strike Fighter, a yearling by In Summation consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Shocking Pink, by Jump Start, a half sister to graded stakes placed Imawildandcrazyguy.

Hip No. 64, a yearling filly by Lookin At Lucky consigned by Select Sales, Agent, went to George Kerr for $67,000. The bay filly is out of Lovin Ladie, by Master Command, a half sister to graded stakes winner Kays and Jays.

Hip No. 175, a yearling from the first crop of Uncle Mo consigned by Highbury Farm, was sold to BTSI, Agent, for $67,000. The bay colt is out of Turbulent Times, by Fusaichi Pegasus, a half sister to grade one stakes placed Honoured Guest.

Hip No. 4, a yearling colt by Archarcharch consigned by Select Sales, Agent, was sold to Jeff Ralph for $65,000. The dark bay or brown colt, out of Fine Prospect, by Meadowlake, is a half brother to stakes placed Big Cat Walks Late.

Big Dog Stable went to $60,000 for Hip No. 218, a colt by Dunkirk consigned by Bobby Jones Equine LLC, Agent. The gray or roan colt is out of Bridal Song, by Vicar, a half sister to stakes placed Winaholic.

Hip No. 145, a Rockport Harbor filly consigned by Andy Cant, Agent, went to Thomas Kutsukos for $55,000. The gray or roan filly is out of Sher Win Forest, by Forest Camp, a half sister to graded stakes winner City Attraction.

For the Consignor Preferred session, 146 horses sold for total of $2,889,700 compared with 98 horses grossing $1,726,900 in 2013. The average price was $19,792, up 12.32.% compared with $17,621 a year ago, while the median price was $15,000, a gain of 25% over last year’s $12.000. The buyback percentage was 35.4%; it was 31.9% last year.
