Egg Drop captures Hollywood’s Matriarch Stakes

Little Red Feather Racing’s Egg Drop scored her first grade one victory in Sunday’s $251, 000 Matriarch Stakes (G1) at Hollywood Park, battling back after being headed in the stretch and wining by a nose. It’s the third straight graded stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Alphabet Soup, sold for $12,000 by Janie Roper, Agent, at the 2010 OBS August Sale. The win gives her a 12-6-2-2 record and $494,020 in earnings.

Martin Racing Stable LLC’s Marchman posted his first stakes victory in the $75,000 Woodchopper Stakes at Fair Gounds on Saturday, going right to the front and staying there all the way en route to a comfortable 2-3/4 length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Brown Almighty (April ’12) checked in third. It’s the third win in six tries this year for the 3-year-old Sharp Humor colt, now 8-3-2-1 with earnings of $154,678. After working a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show, he was sold for $90,000 by Seahorse Stables LLC, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale.  watch his under tack video
