Patsy C. Symons’ Effie Trinket posted her second straight stakes score on Saturday at Belmont, battling down the stretch and winning the $200,000 Ticonderoga Stakes by a nose. A two time OBS graduate, she was sold as a yearling by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2011 Winter Mixed Sale before being resold for $105,000 by Everett Livestock at the 2012 OBS April Sale after a quarter in a bullet :20 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Antonio Miuccio’s Palace rallied wide in Saturday’s $150,000 Hudson Handicap at Belmont, charged past the leaders in the final seventy yards and scored by a length and a quarter. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by City Zip, sold for $160,000 by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, at the 2011 OBS March Sale. It’s the fifth win in ten trips to the post this year for the 4-year-old colt by Malibu Moon, purchased for $110,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2011 OBS April Sale.
