Solitary Ranger scores in Arlington-Washington Futurity

Susan Moulton’s Solitary Ranger picked a nice spot to break his maiden, taking charge of Saturday’s $150, 000 Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) on the turn then running off in the stretch to a 5-1/2 length victory. The win comes after two second place finishes and gives the 2-year-old son of U S Ranger earnings of $109, 000. Holmark Stables II’s She’s Offlee Good is two for two and a stakes winner after swinging wide for room turning for home in the $100,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes, running by the leaders in deep stretch then pulling away to a two length victory. Sold for $32,000 by Bo Hunt, Agent, at the 2013 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show, the 2-year-old filly by Offlee Wild has earned $79,200 to date. watch her under tack video

Black Hawk Stable’s Alsvid came running in the lane and won Sunday’s $100,000 Premier Cup Handicap at Zia Park by a length, running the six furlongs in a sprightly 1:07 4/5. It’s the sixth stakes win for the 4-year-old gelding by Officer, sold for $55,000 by Stephens Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. He’s now 17-9-2-2 and has earned $501,715.  watch his under tack video

Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Major Marvel pressed the pace in Saturday’s $100,000 Unbridled Stakes at Louisiana Downs, put his head in front a furlong from home and held on gamely, scoring by a neck. It’s the second stakes win for the 7-year-old son of Bernstein, leaving him with a 50-20-6-3 record and $594,978 in earnings. He was consigned by True South, Agent, to the 2008 OBS March Stakes.  watch his under tack video

Alston Thoroughbreds, LLC’s Montbrooks Miracle settled for third in his debut in August but made no mistakes in his second start, going to the front in Saturday’s $50,000 John Franks Memorial Sales Stakes at Evangeline Downs and staying there all the way en route to a 2-1/2 length victory.
