A major source of quality horses throughout its history, the OBS August Sale has produced twenty-one millionaires and five Eclipse Award winners. Since the beginning of 2012, 120 August alumni have won or placed in 206 stakes races.

The next OBS August millionaire could be Robert Abbo Racing Stables LLC’s Immortal Eyes, who continued his march toward the magic number with his third straight victory, a wire to wire win in Monmouth’s Teddy Drone Stakes in late July. The 8-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness has racked up eleven stakes wins, and has earned $865,051 to date.

Last year’s August Sale graduates are already making in impact at the races. At least twenty four 2012 sale graduates have already won, including nine stakes horses. The biggest moment to date was a 1-2-3 finish by August grads in Del Mar’s Best Pal Stakes (G2) as Jaam Racing’s Alberts Hope beat Celtic Moon by half a length,  with Guns Loaded completing the OBS trifecta. Unbeaten Alberts Hope, a gelding by Run Away and Hide, was consigned to last year’s sale by Pelican State Thoroughbreds. He’s earned $121,200 to date.

Other August grads in the headlines recently include B.J. Wright’s millionaire Jeranimo and Team Valor International’s Infinite Magic. Jeranimo, the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Congaree, picked up his second grade one victory at Del Mar in July with a win in the Eddie Read Stakes (G1). Sold for $50,000 by On Course Sales, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale, he’s earned better than $1.4 million.

Infinite Magic, who raced in England before returning home this spring, won Arlington’s American Derby (G3) in July for his first stakes score. The well-traveled 3-year-old colt by More Than Ready was consigned by Vinery Sales, Agent, to the 2011 OBS August Sale.

Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) and Malibu Moon, one-two on the general sire list, head a strong OBS August sire roster. Flatter and Giant’s Causeway are represented as well as City Zip, Kitten’s Joy, Harlan’s Holiday, Unbridled’s Song, Ghostzapper and Tale of the Cat.

Pioneerof the Nile and Colonel John, who have four winners each to date, have yearlings in the sale, as do successful young sires Discreet Cat, Hard Spun, Majestic Warrior, Midnight Lute and Scat Daddy.

The sale will also showcase the offspring of freshman sires, featuring yearlings by Desert Party, Discreetly Mine, Eskendereya,  Lookin at Lucky, Majesticperfection, Munnings, Quality Road and Super Saver.

Wildcat Heir, High Cotton and Put It Back head the list of Florida-based stallions with offspring in the sale, along with With Distinction, Graeme Hall and promising newcomers Kantharos and Two Step Salsa.
