Stephanie’s Kitten takes the Churchill Downs Turf Mile Stakes

Ken & Sarah Ramsey’s Stephanie’s Kitten, idle since October, returned to the races with a flourish, circling the field from last and winning the Churchill Downs Turf Mile Stakes (G2) by a neck. It’s the fourth graded stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Kitten’s Joy, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2011 OBS April Sale. John Oxley’s Spring in the Air posted her second stakes win at Woodbine on Saturday, coming from just off the pace to take the $148,830 Fury Stakes by half a length. The graded stakes winning 3-year-old Spring At Last filly, now 8-3-3-0 with earnings of $542,067, was sold for $130,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale.  watch her under tack video

Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum & Kevin Tsujihara’s Comma to the Top outran the early speed in Saturday‘s $80,740 Cool Frenchy Stakes at Hollywood, opened up turning for home and coasted to a 1-3/4 length victory. It’s the second win in five starts this year, all in stakes company, for the 5-year-old graded stakes winning Florida-bred son of Bwana Charlie. A two time OBS graduate, he was sold first by Beth Bayer, Agent, as a weanling at the 2010 OBS Fall Mixed Sale before bringing $22,000 when purchased out of the Indian Prairie Ranch consignment at the 2010 April Sale. His eighth stakes win gives him a 30-13-2-2 record and earnings of $1,233,406. watch his under tack video

Six Wide Racing LLC’s Candy Bites took charge of Saturday’s $50,000 Babst/Palacios Memorial Stakes at Beulah Park turning for home before drawing away to a 3-1/4 length victory. It’s the second straight stakes score for the 3-year-old daughter of Candy Ride, now 11-3-0-2 with earnings of $80,553. She was sold by Mayberry Farm, Agent, for $21,000 at the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video
