WinStar Farm LLC’s General Election tried stakes company for the first time in the $75,000 John Battaglia Memorial Stakes at Turfway Park Saturday and he circled horses on the turn, closed eight wide and scored by half a length, with fellow 2012 OBS March graduate For Greater Glory getting up for third. It’s the second win in four starts for the 3-year-old colt by Harlan’s Holiday, sold for $150,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at last year’s March Sale.
