Comma to the Top a millionaire after scoring in Santa Anita’s Daytona Stakes

Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum & Kevin Tsujihara’s Comma to the Top became the newest OBS millionaire on Saturday, leading all the way en route to a 1-3/4 length victory in Santa Anita’s $100,000 Daytona Stakes (G3). It’s the fourth win in eight starts this year for the 4-year-old Florida-bred graded stakes winning gelding by Bwana Charlie, a two time OBS graduate. He was sold first by Beth Bayer, Agent, as a weanling at the 2010 OBS Fall Mixed Sale before bringing $22,000 when purchased out of the Indian Prairie Ranch consignment at the 2010 April Sale. His sixth stakes win leaves him with a 25-11-2-1 career record and earnings of $1,027,696.  watch his under tack video

Majestic Racing Stable, LLC and RAP Racing’s Avare led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $77,500 Eddie Logan Stakes at Santa Anita, leading all the way and scoring by 4-1/4 lengths over Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Preview Stakes winner Gabriel Charles (April ’12), with Will True Up (March ’12) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old son of Johannesburg, sold for $130,000 by McKathan Bros., Agent, at the 2012 OBS June Sale. Klaravich Stables Inc. & William H. Lawrence’s Populist Politics racked up his fourth stakes win, closing strongly for a 2-1/2 length victory in $70,000 B-Connected Stakes on Saturday at Delta Downs. The 4-year-old graded stakes placed colt by Don’t Get Mad was sold for $70,000 by M & H Training and Sales, Agent, at the 2010 OBS April Sale. He’s now 21-6-5-4 and has earned $432,416 to date. watch his under tack video

Cindy Nassal’s Appealing Stella tried stakes company for the first time in Tampa’s $50,000 Minaret Stakes on Saturday and got up in the final furlong for a 1-1/4 length victory. The 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Closing Argument, now 12-4-4-0 with earnings of $135,205, was consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2009 OBS August Sale.
