Fall Mixed Sale begins Tuesday

As 2006 graduate Flat Out prepares for a date in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2012 Fall Mixed Sale begins Tuesday, October 16th.  A total of 420 horses are cataloged for the two-day sale, scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. with hip numbers 1-172 selling in the Consignor Preferred session. Hip numbers 173 – 420 sell on Wednesday, October 17th in the Open Session, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The catalog and pedigree updates may be viewed via a Sortable Master Index in the OBSwebsite at obssales.com.  The Master Index also includes links to pedigree updates via equineline.com. The sale will be streamed live via the OBS website and also via the Blood-Horse and DRF websites.

The catalog can also be downloaded for iPad use. For more information and to obtain the application go to http://www.equineline.com/SalesCatalogApp/.  On Monday, October 15th, Equineline Representative Kyle Degener is holding two seminars at OBS on the Sales Catalog App. The seminars will cover the various features of this free iPad app, how it can be easily customized and how to get the most out of its capabilities.  Both thirty minute sessions will be held in the OBS sales pavilion. Starting times are 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The sale’s 168 weanlings feature the progeny of a sire roster that includes Big Brown, Congrats, High Cotton, Leroidesanimaux (BRZ), Majestic Warrior, Midnight Lute, Mizzen Mast, Old Fashioned, Scat Daddy, Wildcat Heir, and With Distinction. First crop sires represented include Cool Coal Man, Distinctly Mine, Kantharos, Super Saver, and Tale of Ekati.

The Fall Mixed Sale’s most prominent weanling graduate is Preston Stables LLC’s Flat Out, sold for $11,000 by Thoroughstock, Agent, in 2006. The 6-year-old son of Flatter went over the $2-million mark in earnings winning Belmont’s $1,000,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) for the second straight year on September 29th.  He’s among the favorites for the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). Other Fall Sale graduates in the headlines recently include Del Mar Futurity (G1) winner Rolling Fog and grade one winner Currency Swap, who scored in Saratoga’s Amsterdam Stakes (G2) in August. Fall Sale graduates Another Romance, C C’s Pal and Great Attack have also won graded stakes in 2012.

The list of first crop stallions with in-foal mares in the sale includes: Archarcharch, Big Drama, Courageous Cat, Dublin, First Dude, Gone Astray and Uncle Mo.

Also featured are mares in foal to a strong group of sires including leading freshman sire Spring At Last, atop the list in large measure due to the exploits of graded stakes winners Spring Venture and Spring in the Air, both heading to the Breeders’ Cup.

Awesome of Course, Bellamy Road, Colonel John, Cowtown Cat, Flower Alley, In Summation, Kitten’s Joy, Pioneerof the Nile and Zensational are also represented.
