Decisive tops Fall Mixed Sale’s Open Session

Hip No. 373, Decisive, a mare by Pulpit consigned by Ramsey Farm, Agent, went to Jose Uzcategui for $50,000 to top the final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2012 Fall Mixed Sale. The 4-year-old mare, in foal to Kitten’s Joy, is out of stakes winner Enduring Will, by Arch.

Hip No. 217, a colt by Kantharos consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, went to Anthony Costanzo for $33,000. The bay weanling colt, out of stakes winner Our Tune, by Concorde’s Tune, is a half brother to stakes placed Lasso From El Paso.

Summerfield also consigned Hip No. 245, a weanling colt by Smoke Glacken sold to I.C. Stables for $30,000. The gray or roan colt is out of Road to Honor, by Double Honor, a half sister to stakes winner and stakes producer Fortune Forty Four.

Hip No. 265, Score One More, a mare by Even the Score consigned by Red River Farm, Agent, went to Arboritanza Racing for $27,000. The 6-year-old gray or roan mare, in foal to Tale of Ekati, is out of Snap to It, by Honour and Glory, and is a half sister to stakes winner Sea Dub.

Tom Mc Crocklin, Agent for Tommy Huttons Dream Stable, paid $27,000 for Hip No. 345, a yearling colt by Leonnatus Anteas consigned by Tanner Wingo. The bay colt is out of Calina, by Compadre, a full sister to stakes winner Simple Sister.

For the session, 161 horses sold for a total of $1,201,000, compared with 186 horses bringing $1,132,000 in 2011. The average was $7,460, up 22.6% from $6,086 in the corresponding session last year, while the median rose 44.4% from $3,600 in 2011 to $5,200. The buyback percentage was 22.2%; it was 21.8% a year ago.

At Tuesday’s Consignor Preferred session, 121 horses brought a total of $1,721,900, compared with 84 horses selling for a total of $1,112,200 at last year’s session. The average was $14,231, up 7.5% from $13,240 in 2011 while the median price was $11,000, a gain of 29.4% from $8,500 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 19.3%; it was 30 % last year.

The sale topper was Hip No. 35, a weanling colt by Scat Daddy consigned by Bobby Jones Equine LLC, Agent, sold to Tom McCrocklin, Agent, for $55,000.  The chestnut colt is out of Placerita, by Gilded Time, a half sister to stakes winner Singing Heart.

Next on the OBS agenda is the Winter Mixed Sale, including the Horses of Racing Age section, scheduled for January 15-16, 2013, with the Under Tack Show set for Monday, January 14. The OBS Championship Stakes is scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2013 followed by the Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training, set for March 12-13.
