A trio of weekend stakes winners

LA Thoroughbreds’ Sweet as You Are tried stakes company for the first time in the $101, 500 Mrs Penny Stakes at Parx Racing on Saturday and rallied from off the pace, hit the front after three quarters and drew off to win by 3-1/2 lengths. The victory leaves her with a record of 30-7-0-5 and earnings of $246, 244. She was sold for $55,000 by Michael Cooke, Agent, at the 2009 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Wind River Stables’ Depeche Chat took charge of Kentucky Downs’ $60, 000 Franklin-Simpson Stakes at the top of the stretch and rolled from there to a 6-1/2 length score, with fellow OBS graduate San Antone (April ’10) checking in third. It’s the first stakes victory for the 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Wildcat Heir, consigned first by breeder Michelle Redding to the 2009 OBS August Sale before bringing $85,000 when purchased out of the All In Sales (Tony Bowling) consignment at the 2010 OBS June Sale. Thomas D. Shank and Stan Young’s Good Lord ran off his third straight stakes win Saturday, scoring by 2-1/2 lengths in the $59,875 Kentucky Cup Turf Dash stakes at Kentucky Downs. Three for eight this year, the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness is now 42-7-9-10 and has earned $328,823 to date. He was consigned by Tradewinds Farm, Agent, to the 2009 OBS June Sale. watch his under tack video
