Lawrence’s Currency Swap wore down a stubborn fellow OBS graduate Trinniberg (April ’11) in deep stretch to win Saratoga’s $250, 000 Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes (G1) by three quarters of a length, with Big Blue Nation (March ’11) rallying to finish third. Two for two and a grade one winner of $180,000, the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by High Cotton is a two time OBS graduate. Sold as a weanling by Summerfield, Agent for breeder Stonecliff Farm at the 2009 OBS Fall Mixed Sale, he was also consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2011 OBS March Sale.
Carolyn Wilson’s Arena Elvira posted her second straight Saratoga stakes win Sunday, scoring by a length and a half in the $75,000 Sightseek Stakes. The 4-year-old Ghostzapper filly, sold for $210,000 by Straightaway Farm, Agent, at the 2009 OBS March Sale, is now 10-5-3-2 and has earned $214,930 to date
