Ask the Moon romps in Saratoga’s Ruffian Invitational Handicap

Farnsworth Stables LLC’s Ask the Moonfound a fine spot for her first win of the year, taking the lead at the break and improving her position throughout en route to a 5-3/4 length victory in Saratoga’s $250, 000 Ruffian Invitational Handicap on Sunday (G1). Her first graded stakes win gives the 6-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon a 31-9-5-7 record and earnings of $533,640. Claimed by her current connections in June, she was sold for $125,000 by Nick de Meric, Agent, at the 2007 OBS March Sale.

Frank Carl Calabrese’s Romacaca scored her first graded stakes win on Sunday, posting a 1-1/4 length victory in Monmouth’s $250,000 Taylor Made Matchmaker Stakes (G3). That’s six in a row for the 5-year-old Florida-bred-daughter of Running Stag, consigned by Cashel Stud, Agent, to both the 2007 August and 2008 April OBS Sales. Now 23-12-4-2, she has earned $598,092.

Just For Fun Stable LLC’s Decisive Moment scored his second stakes win of the year on Saturday at Calder, taking the $75,000 El Kaiser Stakes by a length and three quarters over fellow OBS graduate Chiseled Light (August ’09). Now 11-3-2-3 with earnings of $580,010, the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by With Distinction was consigned by Derby Dreams, Agent, to the 2010 OBS April Sale.

M E S Stable, Inc.’s Battle of Love ran off her fifth straight win on Saturday at Calder, scoring her first stakes win by 3-1/4 lengths in the $63,000 Three Ring Stakes. Sold for $3,500 by Leprechaun Racing, Agent, at the 2010 OBS June Sale, the 3-year-old A.P. Warrior filly is now 10-4-0-2 with earnings of $70,183.
