Corinthian filly tops Spring Sale’s third session

Hip No. 916, a filly by Corinthian consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Mark Casse, Agent, for $320,000 to top the third session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2011 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The bay filly, out of stakes winner Glacken’s Mark, by Smoke Glacken, worked a quarter in :21 1/5 at last Thursday’s Under Tack session.

Hip No. 710, Everybody’s Single, a colt by Rock Hard Ten consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, went to Patrice Miller, EQB Inc., Agent, for $170,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show, is out of Cute Cakes, by Lemon Drop Kid.

Hip No. 1016, a Ghostzapper colt consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Michael Machowsky, Agent, for $150,000. The bay colt, out of Jewel for a King, by Storm Cat, a daughter of champion Jewel Princess, worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.

Patrice Miller, EQB Inc., Agent, also went to $135,000 for Hip No. 850, Fast and Smart, a filly by Freud consigned by Hoppel’s Horse and Cattle Co., Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, whose eighth in :10 flat was co-fastest at the distance at last Thursday’s Under Tack session, is out of Fast Read, by Touch Gold.

Hip No. 830, a colt by Purim consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, went to St. George Farm for $130,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who sped an eighth in :10 1/5, is out of stakes winner Extended Applause, by Exbourne.

Aurora Springs Stable, Jose Pinchin, Agent, went to $125,000 for Hip No. 902, a colt by Congrats consigned by Southern Cypress Stable LLC, Agent. The bay colt, who worked a quarter in :21 1/5, is out of Gattina Bella, by Tale of the Cat, a daughter of graded stakes placed Exclusive Hold.

Hip No 963, a filly by Perfect Soul (IRE) consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was sold for $125,000 to Christina Jelm for Elkstone Group LLC. The chestnut filly, who breezed a quarter in :20 4/5, is out of Hold to Fashion, by Hold Your Peace, and is a half sister to grade one winner Peace Rules.

Hip No. 797, a colt by With Distinction out of stakes winner Dynamite Diablo, by Diablo, was sold to Carolyn Wilson for $120,000. Consigned by All In Sales (Tony Bowling), Agent, the dark bay or brown colt worked an eighth in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 826, Grand Slam colt consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, was sold to Leonard Blach for $120,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5, is out of Excedius, by Seattle Dancer, and is a half brother to stakes placed Seven Grand.

For the session, 207 horses grossed $6,054,200, compared with 172 horses selling for a total of $4,659,000 at the corresponding session last year. The average price was $29,247, up 8% from $27,087 a year ago, while the median price was $20,000, up 11.1% from $18,000 in 2010. The buyback percentage was 23%; it was 29.2% last year. Thirty horses sold for $50,000 or more compared with 23 a year ago.
