  • Lael Stable paid $350,000 for Hip No. 886, a son of Army Mule consigned by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC. The chestnut colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is a half brother to stakes placed OBS graduate Droppin G’s out of Zooey, by Exchange Rate.
  • Hip No. 787, a son of Bolt d’Oro who turned in Friday’s fastest Under Tack eighth in :9 3/5, went to Reeves Thoroughbred Racing for $330,000. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, the bay colt is a half brother to stakes winner Blame J D out of Tipping Point, by Speightstown.

  • Hip No. 611, a daughter of Maclean’s Music also consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Mike Ryan, Agent, for $300,000. The bay filly, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, is a half sister to grade one stakes winning OBS Spring Sale graduate Varda out of She’ll Be Right, by Sky Mesa.
  • Hip No. 633, a son of Thousand Words who breezed an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat, was purchased for $300,000 by Spendthrift Farm LLC. Consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, the chestnut colt is out of Silver Shimmer, by Tale of the Cat, a half sister to champion Esidio.
  • Hip No. 733, a daughter of Tiz the Law consigned by Caliente Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold for $300,000 to Klaravich Stable, Inc. The chestnut filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is out of Sweetbaby, by Candy Ride (ARG), a daughter of grade one stakes winner Rutherienne.
  • John Wade went to $300,000 for Hip No. 868, a daughter of Not This Time consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent. The gray or roan filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5, is out of stakes winner Winter, by Awesome Again, from the family of graded stakes winner Venezuelan Hug.

For the session, 147 horses sold for a total of $15,122,000 compared with 167 horses grossing $20,856,000 at last year’s third session. The average price was $102,871, compared with $124,886 a year ago, while the median price was $65,000 compared with $60,000 last year. The buyback percentage was 21.8%; it was 21.9% in 2023.

Hip No. 365, a daughter of Tiz the Law consigned by Tom McCrocklin, Agent, went to Donato Lanni, Agent for Michael Lund Petersen, for $1,900,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2024 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The bay filly, whose Under Tack quarter on Tuesday was a track record equaling :20 1/5, is out of stakes winner Moonlight Sky, by Sky Mesa, a half sister to champion Abel Tasman.

  • Hip No. 371, a son of American Pharoah consigned by de Meric Sales, was purchased for $925,000 by Donato Lanni for Frank Fletcher Racing Operations. The bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is a three quarter brother to graded stakes winning OBS graduate Merneith out of More Roses, by Uncle Mo.  
  • Hip No. 603, a son of OBS graduate Into Mischief consigned by Scanlon Training & Sales, Agent, was sold to Naohiro Sakaguchi for $925,000. The bay colt, whose Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 was Wednesday’s co-fastest, is out of grade one stakes winner Separationofpowers, by Candy Ride (ARG).

  • Hip No. 417, a son of Curlin consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, was purchased for $575,000 by Donato Lanni for Frank Fletcher Racing Operations. The chestnut colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 flat, is out of stakes winner Noble and a Beauty, by Noble Causeway, from the family of grade one stakes winner and leading sire Tapit.

  • Mike Ryan, Agent, went to $400,000 for Hip No. 530, a daughter of Nyquist whose eighth in: 9 4/5 was co-fastest at Wednesday’s Under Tack session. For the session, 171 horses sold for a total of $25,841,500 compared with 189 horses grossing $24,022,000 at last year’s second session. The average price was $151,120, compared with $127,101 a year ago, while the median price was $75,000 compared with $60,000 last year. The buyback percentage was 18.9%; it was 16.7 % in 2023.

Spring Sale’s Opening Session moved back to 12:00 noon

Tuesday’s first session of the 2024 OBS Spring Sale of Two Year Olds in Training has been moved back from 10:30 a.m to 12:00 noon to allow buyers more time for inspection following the alteration of the Under Tack schedule.

Michael Lund Petersen’s Adare Manor (Uncle Mo – Brooklynsway) went right to the lead in Saturday’s $1,250,000 Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) at Oaklawn Park, shrugged off a challenge on the turn and drew away with ease in the stretch to score by 5-1/2 lengths.
