Rockingham Ranch’s Stormy Liberal, ignored at 30-1, saved ground in the early going of the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar, came off the rail after straightening away in the stretch and was up in the final strides to beat stablemate Richard’s Boy by a neck. Joel Rosario was aboard the 5-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic, now 22-8-6-1 and the newest OBS millionaire with earnings of $1,033,570 for trainer Peter Miller. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, to the 2014 OBS June Sale, he breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $100,00. watch his under tack video

A pair of OBS millionaires and a promising 2-year-old filly also made their presence felt during the two days of championship racing at Del Mar.

Speedway Stable LLC’s Collected pressed front-running winner Gun Runner into the stretch of the $6-million Breeders’ Classic (G1), battled gamely into the final furlong and then held off a late run by top 3-year-old West Coast to finish second. Trained by Bob Baffert, he’s now 12-9-1-0 and has earned $2,280,500. Consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds (Steven Venosa), Agent, to the 2015 OBS March Sale, he was purchased for $170,000 by Speedway Stable after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.  watch his under tack video

Gelfenstein Farm’s Sharp Azteca set the pace in the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), led to deep stretch but missed by half a length to promising 3-year-old Battle of Midway. The 4-year-old colt by Freud is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Select Sales at the 2014 August Selected Yearling Sale and then purchased for $220,000 at the 2015 April Sale by Gelfenstein Farm from de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Stables, after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he’s now 15-7-5-1 and has earned $1,306,740. watch his under tack video

Baoma Corporation’s Alluring Star put away favored Moonshine Memories turning for home in the $2-million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) but was unable to withstand a late charge by Caledonia Road and settled for second, earning $340,000. Now 3-1-2-0 for trainer Bob Baffert, she has earned $436,000 to date. The 2-year-old daughter of Exchange Rate sped a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show at the 2017 OBS March Sale before she was purchased for $850,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment. watch her under tack video
