OBS graduates capture eight weekend stakes races

Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Mr. Misundertood came from just off the pace to take charge of Saturday’s $200, 000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs a furlong from home and drew away from there to beat fellow OBS graduate Phat Man (March ’16) by three lengths. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old gelding by Archarcharch, trained by Brad Cox, leaving him with a 10-6-1-0 record with $234,794 in earnings. Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, he was sold for $130,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

OBS graduates also won three other stakes on the Super Derby undercard.

Steve Landers Racing LLC’s Lady O’Toole picked up her first stakes victory in the $60,000 Happy Ticket Stakes. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Colonel John took charge on the turn for home and then drew away down the stretch, scoring by 3-1/2 lengths. Now 4-3-0-0 for trainer Brad Cox, she has earned $82,470 to date. Consigned by Flying Fish, Agent, to the 2017 OBS March Sale, she breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show before going to Landers Racing for $80,000. watch her under tack video

Greg Allen Johnson’s Net Gain turned in a strong performance in the $60,000 Unbridled Stakes, circling horses on the turn, taking the lead turning for home and drawing away down the stretch to a 3-1/2 length victory. That’s three stakes wins for the 5-year-old son of Include, sold for $325,000 by Scanlon Training Center, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Clinton C. Stuart, he’s now 27-6-5-5 and has earned $323,587.  watch his under tack video

Whispering Oaks Farm LLC’s Eden Grey’s Kitten was up in the final yards after a long drive in the $50,000 Need For Speed Stakes, scoring by a neck. It’s the second stakes win for the 5-year-old Kitten’s Joy gelding, trained by Steven Flint, now 25-9-6-3 with $295,360 in earnings. Consigned by Robert Brewer to the 2014 OBS April Sale, he worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before going through the ring.  watch his under tack video

At Los Alamitos Race Course on Saturday, Jeff Bonde, Edward J. Brown and Karen Norton’s Princess Karen went to the front at the start of the $75,000 Beverly J. Lewis Stakes and never looked back, leading from gate to wire and scoring by a length and a quarter over fellow OBS graduate Faypien (April ’16). It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Stay Thirsty filly, trained by Jeff Bonde, now 6-3-0-0 with $120,705 in earnings. Consigned by Starting Point Thoroughbreds (Bruno DeBerdt), Agent to the 2016 OBS June Sale, she breezed an eighth in  :10 1/5 before she went through the ring. watch her under tack video

Conrad Farms’ Shamrock Rose got her career off to a flying start at Woodbine on Saturday, coming from off the pace to take the $100,000 Ontario Debutante Stakes by a length and quarter in her first trip to the post. Fellow OBS graduate Honey Graeme (March ’17) checked in third. Mark Casse trains the 2-year-old daughter of First Dude, who earned $49,350.  At the 2017 OBS April Sale, she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before she was sold for $120,000 by Best A Luck Farm LLC, Agent. watch her under tack video

Sagamore Farm and Stanley M. Hough’s Barry Lee is two for three and a stakes winner after sweeping to the lead in the stretch of Saturday’s $75,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity and scoring by three quarters of a length. The 2-year-old colt by Violence sped an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before he was purchased by Sagamore for $380,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale. Trained by Horacio DePaz, he’s now 3-2-0-0 and has earned $67,000. watch his under tack video

Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Moms Choice led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $66,900  Avers Wexler Memorial Stakes at Arlington, leading all the way en route to a four length victory over Princess Erindelle (August ’14). Majestic Angel (June ’15) checked in third.  It was the first stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Kitten’s Joy, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before she was purchased for $160,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale. Trained by Larry Rivelli, she’s now 16-6-2-1 and has earned $268,916 to date. watch her under tack video
