Conquest Panthera wins Woodbine’s Play the King Stakes

Gary Barber’s Conquest Panthera relaxed off the early pace in Woodbine’s $175, 000 Play the King Stakes (G2), circled horses on the turn to reach contention turning for home, then ran down the leader in the final yards to win by a neck. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Kitten’s Joy, trained by Mark Casse, now 10-4-0-3 with $250,016 in earnings. Loooch Racing Stables, Inc. and Imaginary Stables’ Nikki My Darling led from flag fall to finish in Saturday’s $75,000 Pay the Man Stakes at Thistledown, drawing away in the stretch to win by eight lengths.
