El Areeb romps in Aqueduct’s Jerome Stakes

MMG Stables LLC’s El Areeb took charge of Monday’s $150, 000 Jerome Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct on the turn and the newly turned 3-year-old colt by Exchange Rate ran away from there, bounding to an 11-1/4 length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Bonus Points (April ’16) checking in second. Consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, he breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show before being purchased by MMG for $340,000. Trained by Cathal Lynch, he’s now 5-3-1-0 and has earned $184,200 to date. watch his under tack video

Altamira Racing Stable and David A. Bernsen’s St. Joe Bay took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $100,000 Midnight Lute Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita and held it to the wire, finishing in a dead heat for the victory with stablemate Solid Wager. It’s the first graded stakes win for the now 5-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Saint Anddan, a two time OBS graduate. He was consigned by Bobby Jones Equine LLC, Agent to the 2013 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $60,000 out of the Bobby Dodd consignment at the 2014 June Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Trained by Peter Miller, he’s now 20-4-5-3 and has earned $257,175. watch his under tack video

Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stable LLC and Michael Imperio’s Bonita Bianca trailed in the early going of Saturday’s $100,000 East View Stakes, but surged to the lead on the outside, hit the front coming to the eighth pole and drew off to win by 5-1/4 lengths. It’s the second stakes win for the newly turned 3-year-old daughter of Curlin, now 4-3-0-1 with earnings of $276,000 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. She was purchased by Michael Dubb for $97,000 from Dormellito Stud Sales at the 2016 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Jim Wells and Cheyenne Stables LLC’s Paige picked up her first stakes victory in the $75,000 Via Borghese Stakes at Gulfstream on New Year’s Eve, finding room on the rail in the stretch and rallying late for a half length victory. The now 5-year-old graded stakes placed daughter of Sky Mesa was consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale where she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Christophe Clemente, she’s now 15-4-3-3 and has earned $260,844.  watch her under tack video

 

Martin S. Schwartz’s High Ridge Road circled horses on the turn in Saturday’s $100,000 Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes at Laurel, took the lead after turning for home and scored her first stakes win by half a length. The newly turned 5-year-old graded stakes placed daughter of Quality Road, trained by Linda Rice, is now 10-4-2-3 and has earned $233,990 to date. She sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before she was purchased for $350,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video
