Champagne Room captures the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies

Ciaglia Racing, Exline-Border, Gulliver Racing, Sharon Alesia, Christensen, and Legan’s Champagne Room, overlooked at 33-1, moved up to take command of the $1,841,380 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at the top of the stretch, opened up daylight a furlong from home and cruised from there to a three quarter length victory. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 2-year-old daughter of Broken Vow, trained by Peter Eurton, now 5-2-1-1 and the newest OBS millionaire graduate with $1,386,600 in earnings. She was purchased for $310,000 by Larry Zap, Agent for Joseph Ciaglia, Jr. out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2016 April Sale after speeding a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

It was the second trip to the Juvenile Fillies (G1) with an OBS graduate for Mr. Ciaglia and Peter Eurton. They finished third in 2011 with Weemissfrankie, trained by Eurton and owned by Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stables, Ciaglia Racing, LLC and Rob Dyrdek. The daughter of Sunriver, a two time grade one winner of $559,920, went through the ring in the 2010 August Sale before she was purchased at the April Sale. .

Champagne Room is the fourth OBS graduate to win the Juvenile Fillies (G1). February graduate Brave Raj won the 1986 renewal and Stardom Bound (March ‘08) and She Be Wild (April ’09) scored consecutive victories in 2008 and 2009.
