Klimt captures the Del Mar Futurity

Kaleem Shah’s Klimt moved up to challenge front-running favorite Straight Fire turning for home in Monday’s $300,345 Del Mar Futurity (G1), put him away a furlong from home then drew away to win by 4-1/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Midnight Pleasure (April ‘16) checked in third. It’s the second straight graded stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Quality Road, who took Del Mar’s Best Pal Stakes (G2) earlier in the meet. Trained by Bob Baffert, he’s now 4-3-0-0 and has earned $336,960 to date. He sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 prior to his purchase for $435,000 by Bob Baffert on Mr. Shah’s behalf out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Drawing Away Stable’s Doctor J Dub posted his first graded stakes win at Parx Racing on Labor Day, taking the lead at the start of the $300,000 Turf Monster Stakes (G3) and never looking back en route to a half length victory. It’s the second stakes score for the 6-year-old gelding by Sharp Humor, trained by Jena Antonucci, now 26-6-6-5 with $335,395 in earnings. Consigned to the 2012 OBS March Sale by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, he breezed and eighth in :10 flat before he was sold for $195,000. watch his under tack video

Averill Racing LLC and Silver Oak Stable LLC’s R Kinsley Doll scored her second straight stakes victory on Saturday in $150,000 Florida Sire Jewel Princess Stakes at Gulfstream, tracking the leaders in to the stretch and wearing them down late to win by a neck, with fellow OBS graduate She’s Incredible (April ’15) finishing third. The 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Big Drama was consigned by Cary Frommer, Agent, to the 2015 OBS March Sale, where she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Ralph Ziadie, she’s now 8-3-2-0 and has earned $238,085. watch her under tack video

Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman was head and head for the early lead in Monday’s Turf Amazon Stakes at Parx Racing, but took control down the stretch and eased away to win by a length, with fellow OBS graduate Sunnysammi (April ’14) closing to get third.  Her second straight stakes win is her fifth in seven starts this year and the eleventh of her career. Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, she’s now 19-13-2-2 and has earned $896,042. The 4-year-old daughter of Midshipman was consigned by Pleasant Acres Farm, Agent, to the 2014 OBS April Sale, where she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. watch her under tack video

Curtis Landry and Red Diamond Stable’s Ruffenuff is two for two with two stakes wins after running off to a 12-1/4 length victory in Monday’s $50,000 Bird of Pay Stakes at Northlands Park. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, to the 2016 OBS April Sale, she breezed a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. The 2-year-old daughter of Dialed In, trained by Greg Tracy, has earned $50,079. watch her under tack video
