Miss Freeze takes Belmont’s Lynbrook Stakes

Joseph Bulger, Michael Imperio and DJC Racing Stables’ Miss Freeze, the only first time starter in Belmont’s $125,000 Lynbrook Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Sunday, slipped through on the rail to take command at the head of the stretch and drew away smartly to win by 6-1/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Paz the Bourbon (March ’16) checked in third. Consigned by Southern Chase Farm (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, to the 2016 OBS April Sale, the daughter of Frost Giant was sold for $150,000 after working a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Watchyourownbobber pressed the pace in the $103,900 Warrior Veterans Stakes at Indiana Grand Race Course on Saturday, took over in the stretch and eased away to win by a length and a quarter. It’s the second stakes win for the graded stakes placed 4-year-old colt by Hard Spun, sold for $62,000 by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. ERJ Racing LLC, Slam Dunk Racing and Neil Haymes’ Crosscheck Carlos is two for two and a stakes winner after taking the lead at the start of Saturday’s $100,000 D. S. Shine Young Futurity at Evangeline Downs and staying there to the wire, turning back a stretch long challenge to win by a head.  The 2-year-old colt by Custom for Carlos, trained by Albert M. Stall, Jr., has earned $78,600 to date. He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased for $37,000 out of the Inside Move consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Curtis Landry and Red Diamond Stable’s Ruffenuff made her debut in Saturday’s $50,000 Princess Margaret Stakes at Northlands Park, took the lead at the break and cruised from there to a 6-3/4 length victory. Trained by Greg Tracy, the 2-year-old daughter of Dialed In earned $35,000 for her effort. Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. Hronis Racing LLC’s Morganite enjoyed her debut at the opening weekend by the sea at Del Mar, holding off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Champagne Room (April ’16) and scoring by a length and a half in a $64,725 Maiden Special Weight test. The 2-year-old daughter of Gemologist, the first winner for her sire, was consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale. She was sold to Lane’s End Bloodstock for $360,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Trained by John Sadler, her victory was worth $37,800. watch her under tack video
