August Yearling Sale catalog now online

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2016 August Yearling Sale is now available via the OBS website at www.obssales.com. The website features a sortable master index for the catalog and links to daily pedigree updates. The print version will be mailed by the end of July.

The iPad version of the catalog will be available via the equineline Sales Catalog App. The App allows users to download and view the catalog, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. There are 273 yearlings cataloged for the Selected Yearling Sale. Scheduled for Tuesday, August 23rd, it will begin at 10:30 a.m. Conformation photos of the Selected yearlings will be available on the website and the iPad version beginning  August 5th.

The two-day Open Sale features 770 yearlings. Hip No.’s 275 – 660 sell on Wednesday, August 24th and Hip No.’s 661 – 1047 will be offered Thursday, August 25th.  Both Open sessions also begin at 10:30 a.m.

Long a source of quality horses, the OBS August Sale has produced 24 international millionaire graduates, including the recent Japanese graded stakes winner A Shin Bullseye. Fifteen August Sale graduates have won graded stakes since the beginning of 2015. Their combined hammer price was $842,500 and they have earned $6,863,812 to date. The latest August graduate in the headlines is Anthony Fanticola and Joseph Scardino’s unbeaten 3-year-old filly Coppa, three for three and a graded stakes winner after taking Belmont’s Victory Ride Stakes (G3) last Saturday.

As always, the sale features a strong stallion roster, with yearlings by upper echelon sires Bernardini, City Zip, Congrats, Flatter, Ghostzapper, Kitten’s Joy, Mineshaft, More Than Ready, Scat Daddy and Uncle Mo. Proven sires Awesome Again, Broken Vow, Distorted Humor, Elusive Quality, First Dude, Into Mischief, Kantharos, Midnight Lute, Mizzen Mast, Super Saver, Tale of the Cat, Twirling Candy, Two Step Salsa and Wildcat Heir are also represented.

Always a showcase for newcomers to the stallion ranks, the 2016 August sale features the offspring of classic winning first crop sires Animal Kingdom, Orb and Oxbow, as well as Data Link, Flat Out, Fort Larned, Graydar, Justin Phillip, Liaison, Morning Line, Paynter, Point of Entry, Prospective, Rattlesnake Bridge, Shanghai Bobby, Soldat, Take Charge Indy, Treasure Beach (GB), Violence and Winslow Homer are also represented.

Classic winners Shackleford and Union Rags head the roster of the sale’s promising second crop sires along with Astrology, Biondetti, Bodemeister, Maclean’s Music, Mission Impazible, Stay Thirsty, Tapizar, The Factor and To Honor and Serve.

As always, the sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the Blood-Horse and DRF websites.
