King Kranz captures Aqueduct’s Lost in the Fog Stakes

Zayat Stables’ King Kranz picked a fine spot to break his maiden and celebrate the New Year, taking charge of Friday’s $122, 500 Lost in the Fog Stakes at Aqueduct after turning for home and posting a one length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Sallisaw (March ’15) settled for third. Second in the Futurity (G2) at Belmont in October, the 3-year-old colt by Munnings, trained by JohnTerranova, is now 6-1-2-3 and has earned $146,990 to date. He was purchased for $95,000 by Patrice Miller, EQB Inc. on behalf of Zayat Stables out of the Bobby Dodd consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Empire Dreams came from off the pace in Aqueduct’s $100,000 Alex M. Robb Stakes on New Year’s Eve, reached the leaders in the stretch and fought to victory in the final yards by a head. It’s the fifth stakes victory for the now 5-year-old son of Patriot Act, consigned to the 2013 OBS April Sale by Crupi’s New Castle Farm, Agent, and purchased by West Point for $35,000 after he breezed an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5. Trained by Tom Albertrani, he’s now 19-6-6-3 with earnings of $746,501. watch his under tack video

 

Roger G. Smith’s Smitty’s Cougar ended her 2-year-old season with a flourish, taking the lead at the start of Thursday’s $95,770 Louisiana Futurity and romping to a 9-3/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the daughter of Half Ours, trained by Ron Faucheux, leaving her 5-3-0-2 with $118,312 in earnings. Consigned by Robert Brewer to the 2015 OBS March Sale, she worked an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
