Constellation romps in Aqueduct’s Ruthless Stakes

LNJ Foxwoods’ Constellation was much the best in Sunday’s $95, 000 Ruthless Stakes at Aqueduct, taking an early lead, shrugging off a challenge on the turn and cruising to a ten length victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old graded stakes placed daughter of Bellamy Road, who sped an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 before she was purchased for $800,000 out of the Northwest Stud consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the win gives her a 5-3-1-1 record and earnings of $274,800. watch her under tack video

Reddam Racing’s Frank Conversation took charge of Saturday’s $100,105 California Derby at Golden Gate a furlong from home and drew away to a 2-1/2 length victory. It’s the first stakes score for the graded stakes placed 3-year-old son of Quality Road, trained by Doug O’Neill, now 5-2-0-1 with $110,450 in earnings. He was sold for $120,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, to Dennis O’Neill at the 2015 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

MMG Racing Stable’s Never Gone South picked up his second stakes win in the $74,250 Frank J. Whiteley, Jr. Stakes on Saturday at Laurel, taking the lead at the start and never looking back en route to a 7-1/4 length victory. A 3-year-old colt by Munnings, he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 before he was sold by Grassroots Training & Sales, Agent, for $90,000 at the 2015 OBS April Sale. Randy Patterson’s Street Strategy rallied from just off the pace and got up in the shadow of the wire to win the Saturday’s $100,000 Fifth Season Stakes at Oaklawn Park by a head. It’s the first stakes win for the lightly raced 5-year-old horse by Street Sense, trained by Randy Morse, now 11-6-1-1 with earnings of $282,920. GRD Racing’s Karen’s Silk made it three straight wins on Saturday, taking the lead leaving the eighth pole and driving to a 1-1/4 length victory in the $74,250 Marshua Stakes at Laurel. Her first stakes score leaves her 4-3-0-0 with $107,850 in earnings for trainer Michael Dilger. The 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by High Cotton worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before being sold for $50,000 by Omega Farm, Agent, at the 2015 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video

Joe Ragsdale’s Marquee Miss got the weekend rolling on Friday at Opening Day at Oaklawn Park with a front-running 2-1/2 length victory in the $100,000 Dixie Belle Stakes. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Cowboy Cal filly, sold for $20,000 by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg & Karen Dodd), Agent, to Mr. Ragsdale after breezing an eighth in :10 3/5 at the 2015 OBS June Sale’s Under Tack Show.
