Black-Type Updates for OBS August

The 2015 OBS August Yearling Sale is less than a week away, and although the catalog was printed in July, timely pedigree updates are just a click away via the sale’s Sortable Master Index on the OBS website at obssales.com.  Up to the minute pedigree updates are also available to iPad users via the Equineline Sales Catalog iPad App The Sortable Master Index also contains links to conformation photos of the horses in the Selected Yearling Sale.

The Selected Sale gets underway on Tuesday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. The Open Yearling Sale follows on Wednesday and Thursday, August 26th and 27th  with both sessions also beginning at 11:00 a.m. All three session will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the DRF and BloodHorse websites.

Here are some of the highlights of the pedigree updates through Wednesday, August 19th.

Hip No. 22, a Big Drama colt out of Five Star Annie, by Five Star Day, consigned by Silver Oaks Farm, became a half brother to a stakes winner on August 8th when 3-year-old dual OBS graduate Cat Trap (April, October) ran off to a 9-1/4 length victory in the Aspen Cup Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

Hip No. 53, consigned by Oakleaf Farm (Liz & Norma Wilson), is a colt by In Summation. His full brother, two-time OBS graduate Summation Time (April, August) was second in the Troy Stakes at Saratoga on August 22nd.  

Hip No. 147, a colt by Majesticperfection out of Stately Kitty, by Honour and Glory consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, added a stakes placed half brother to his pedigree on July 5th when 5-year-old Zane, by Yes It’s True, was third on July 5th in the Miesque’s Approval Stakes at Gulfstream. 

Consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, Hip No. 151, by Northern Afleet, is the second foal out of Summer Rules, by Perfect Soul. Her 2-year-old half brother by Munnings, OBS April graduate Never Gone South, is two for two and a stakes winner, taking the Strike Your Colors Stakes at Delaware Park in his second start.

OBS June graduate Big John B, a 6-year-old son of Hard Spun, took Del Mar’s Cougar II Handicap (G3) on July 24th  and  successfully defended his title in the Del Mar Handicap (G2) on August 22nd. He now has 14 wins to his credit, he has earned over $700,000.  He’s out of Baldomera, by Doneraile Court, and his half sister by Broken Vow is Hip No. 191, consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent for BryLyn Farm.

Hip No. 233, consigned by Twin Stars Equine LLC, Agent, is a colt by Awesome of Course out of Dewars Rocks, by Big Mukora. His 2-year-old full brother, OBS October graduate Patrick Rocks, was third to Never Gone South in the Strike Your Colors at Delaware and third in the Bashford Manor (G3) at Churchill in June. 

Hip No. 238 is a filly by Exclusive Quality out of Dixie Dudette, by Dixie Union consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent. Her pedigree got a grade one update on August 1st when Dixie Dudette’s graded stakes winning half sister, Yahilwa, was second in the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) at Del Mar.

Hip No. 298, Snuggle Me In, became a half brother to a stakes horse on July 29th when his 2-year-old half sister by Value Plus, Ms. Scarlet Fever, was second in the White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware. Consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, he’s by Kantharos out of Frontier Franny, by Lucky Lionel.

Hip No. 351, a filly by Temple City out of stakes placed Hopi, by Cox’s Ridge consigned by Southern Cypress Stable LLC, Agent, has a newly minted stakes winning half brother in OBS April grad Solomon Bay, by Leroidesanimaux (BRZ)), winner of the Robert Dupret Derby at Santa Rosa on August 8th.

Hip No. 656, a daughter of U S Ranger out of Untamed Passion, by Pulpit is consigned by Craig L. Wheeler, Agent. She’s a half sister to graded stakes placed OBS June graduate Cage Fighter, who added a third place finish in Monmouth’s Oceanport Stakes (G3) on August 2nd to his second in Pimlico’s Dixie Stakes (G2) in May, boosting his bankroll over $228,000. 

Hip No. 733, Get a Valentine, picked up a pair of pedigree upgrades since the catalog went to press when Tiz My Valentine, his 3-year-old half brother by Tizdejavu, was third in two stakes at Delaware, the  Stanton Stakes in June followed by the Kent Stakes (G3) in July. Consigned by Tonya Jurgens, Agent, he’s by Get Stormy out of B. A. Valentine, by Apalachee.

Hip No. 806, consigned by Southern Cypress Stable LLC, Agent, is a filly by Kantharos out of Countess Proud, by Proud Citizen. She added a touch of black type to her pedigree on August 16th when  her 2-year-old half sister by High Cotton, two time OBS graduate Tight Weave (April, October), was second in the Colleen Stakes at Monmouth.
