Super Saver colt equals record at June Sale’s third session

Another day, another record, as Hip No. 771, a son of Super Saver consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, went to The Three Amigos for $575,000 to top the third session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. The price equaled the June Sale record set Tuesday for a colt by Scat Daddy and tied again yesterday for a son of Into Mischief. The bay colt is a half brother to Fiftyshadesofhay, a multiple graded stakes winner racing in the colors of The Three Amigos. Out of graded stakes winning millionaire Quiet Kim, he breezed a quarter in :21 3/5 at Friday’s Under Tack session.

 Hip No. 603, a daughter of Unbridled’s Song also consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, was sold to Sallusto & Albina for $500,000. The gray or roan filly, whose eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at last Thursday’s Under Tack session, is out of  Miss Abita, by Dixie Union, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Away, the dam of Eight Belles.

Hip No. 712, Royal Tart, a daughter of Candy Ride (ARG) consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, was purchased by Rockingham Ranch for $350,000. The bay filly, who also sped an eighth in :9 4/5, is out of graded stakes winner People’s Princess, by Meadowlake, and is a half sister to graded stakes winner Carolyn’s Cat.

Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, paid $230,000 for Hip No. 833, a gray or roan colt by Big Drama who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 last Friday. Consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, he’s a half brother to graded stakes placed Risk Factor out of Samantha O, by Unbridled’s Song.

Hip No. 817, a son of Repent consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Fog City Stables for $220,000. The bark bay or brown colt, out of graded stakes placed Royal Card, by Chapel Royal, worked a quarter in :21 1/5 on Friday.

Hip No. 663, a dark bay or brown filly by Warrior’s Reward whose Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 was co-fastest at the distance on Thursday, was sold for $170,000 to Ben McElroy, Agent. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, she’s out of Nurse Donna, by Vindication, a half sister to stakes winner Seven Nation Army.

Claude McGaughey, Agent, went to $170,000 for Hip No. 674, a son of Street Sense consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent. The bay colt, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5, is out of On a Roll, by A.P. Indy, and is a full brother to stakes placed Free Money.

For the session, 153 horses sold for a total of $6,376,500, compared with 203 horses bringing $6,700,900 at last year’s third session. The average was $41,676 compared with $33,009 in 2014 while the median price was $17,000, identical to last year’s figure. The buyback percentage was 25%; it was 12% last year. Five youngsters sold for $200,000 or more compared with four in the corresponding session a year ago.

The June Sale concludes on Friday when Hip No.’s 859-1166 will be offered beginning at 10:30 a.m.
