Mr. Jordan takes Monmouth’s Pegasus Stakes

David Melin, Leon Ellman and Laurie Plesa’s Mr. Jordan, who broke his maiden at first asking last summer at Monmouth Park, returned there on Sunday and picked up his first graded stakes win. Tracking frontrunning Tekton from the start of the $157,500 Pegasus Stakes (G3), he went after him on the turn, took charge in the stretch and held him off late to win by a head. It’s the third stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, trained by Eddie Plesa, now 6-4-2-0 with earnings of $253,095. The two-time OBS graduate was sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2013 August Sale and then purchased by trainer Eddie Plesa for $155,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2014 April Sale after working a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Thomas Van Meter II and Scott Dilworth’s Tower of Texas is three for three this year and a graded stakes winner after coming from off the pace, taking the lead in the stretch and drawing off a 2-3/4 length victory in Sunday’s $233,200 King Edward Stakes (G2) at Woodbine. The 4-year-old gelding by Street Sense was consigned by the Mc Kathan Bros., Agent, to the 2013 OBS March Sale, where here turned in an eighth in :10 15 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Roger Attfield, he’s now 12-4-3-2 and has earned $296,981 to date.  watch his under tack video

Jeffrey Bloom’s Soul Driver broke through with his first stakes win on Saturday at Santa Anita, circling horses on the turn before blowing past the leaders in the lane and  cruising to a 4-1/2 length victory in the $87,250 Singletary Stakes. Jeff Mullins saddled the 3-year-old son of Street Boss, sold for $60,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after he worked a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 8-2-2-1, he has earned $134,650 to date. watch his under tack video

 Darrel Brown, Lendy Brown and TNIP Racing’s Windy Forecast picked up her first stakes win on Sunday in the $59,015 Pleasanton Oaks, taking the lead at the start and drawing away late to win by four lengths. The win gives the 3-year-old daughter of Stormy Atlantic, trained by Simon Callaghan, a 7-2-2-0 record and earnings of $95,810. She breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before she was purchased out of the Eddie Woods consignment for $260,000 by  Ben McElroy, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Pinnacle Racing Stable LLC, R. Norman, Roger L. Justice & H. Jack Hendricks’ My Point Exactly added Gulfstream’s $60,000 King Cugat Handicap to his resume on Saturday, battling between horses down the stretch and getting in the final yards to win by a neck. Fellow OBS graduate My Cowboy (April ’14), who set the early pace, settled for third. It’s the second stakes score for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Concord Point, purchased for $65,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after speeding a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Bill Kaplan, he’s now 8-3-0-1 with $142,222 in earnings.  watch his under tack video
