Broken Vow colt tops March Sale’s second session

Hip No. 481, a son of Broken Vow consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, went to Linda Rice, Agent, for $950,000 to top the second and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. The bay colt, who worked an eighth in :9 4/5 at Friday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes placed Tale of the South, by Tale of the Cat, a half sister to graded stakes winner Futural.

Hip No. 351, daughter of Bernardini consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Lael Stable for $850,000. The bay filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack session, is out of multiple grade one winner Pure Clan, by Pure Prize.

Conquest Stables LLC went to $725,000 for Hip No. 590, a son of Uncle Mo consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, Agent. The bay colt, who worked an Under Tack eighth on Friday in :10 flat, is out of Being Anna, by Aldebaran, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Winning Point.

Hip No. 428, a bay filly by Adios Charlie consigned by Ocala Stud was sold to Narvick International for $675,000. The half sister to stakes winner Puntrooskie out of stakes placed Siren Cove, by Montbrook worked an Under Tack quarter in :20 3/5 on Friday.

Hip No. 601, Prosperous Lady, a daughter of Bernardini out of graded stakes winner Bohemian Lady, by Carson City, was sold to Haruya Yoshida for $650,000. The bay filly, consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), Agent, worked an eighth last Friday in :10 1/5.

Hip No. 390, a daughter of Twirling Candy consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, Agent, went to L. E. B. for $630,000. The bay filly, a half sister to stakes winner Anytime Magic out of Sambuca Classica, by Cat Thief, worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat last Thursday.

Conquest Stables LLC purchased Hip No. 515, a son of Adios Charlie, out of the Ocala Stud consignment for $600,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who breezed a quarter in :21 2/5 last Friday, is out of stakes placed Unlimited Pleasure, by Valid Appeal, and is a half brother to threegraded stakes winners Unlimited Budget, Jardin and Beacon Shine.

West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. went to $580,000 for Hip No. 366, a son of Arch out of Rebuke, by Carson City, a half sister to stakes winner Summer Cruise. The bay colt, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show, was consigned by Imagine…

Hip No. 610, a son of Sidney’s Candy consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, went to L.E.B. for $560,000. The chestnut colt, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5, is out of stake winner Broadway Hennessey, by Hennessy, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Courageous Act.

Hip No. 537, a chestnut filly by City Zip consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, was purchased by Conquest Stables LLC for $525,000. Out of stakes winner Woodsmoke, by Langfuhr, the half sister to stakes placed Enoree worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.

For the session, 155 horses grossed $24,435,000, averaging $157,645. The median price was $100,000 and the buyback percentage was 25.8%.

For the entire sale, 326 horses sold for a March record $55,682,000, averaging $170,804. The median price was $105,000 and the buyback percentage was 22.7%.

At last year’s Selected Sale in March, 201 horses brought a total of $37,627,500, averaging $187,201. The median price was $135,000 and the buyback percentage was 22.9%.

Twenty five horses brought $500,000 or more compared with ten a year ago.

The overall sale topper was Hip No. 285, Zero Hour, a son of Bernardini consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds (Steven Venosa), Agent, sold to Live Oak Plantation for $1.4-million on Tuesday. The bay colt, who worked a quarter in :21 1/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack session, is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Misty Hour, by Miswaki, and is a half brother to stakes winner Pilfer, dam of grade one winner To Honor and Serve.

The next sale at OBS is the Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training, set for April 21st through April 24th with Under Tack Shows scheduled for April 13th through April 18th.
