Euro Exchange tops Winter Mixed Sale’s closing session

Hip No. 405, Euro Exchange, a 3-year-old son of Exchange Rate consigned by Cutting Edge Equine, Agent, went to Justin Casse, Agent for Jim Stackpoole, for $90,000 to top the Horses of Racing Age section of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Winter Mixed Sale. The gray or roan colt, whose three eighths in :33 2/5 was co-fastest at the distance at Monday’s Under Tack Show, is out of Merciful, by Rahy, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner El Facha.

Hip No. 508, Amazing Littlelady, a 4-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song was purchased by Machmer Hall for $87,000. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, the bay filly is out of stakes winner Amazing Buy, by High Yield, a half sister to Sovereign Award winning graded stakes winner Alpha Bettor.  Her 3-year-old full sister, Just Like Pop, Hip No. 121, was sold yesterday by for $70,000.

Hip No. 489, All Day Alice, a 3-year-old daughter of Posse consigned by Wes Carter, was sold for $75,000 to Ragnar H. Korthase Equine. The chestnut filly, whose three eighths in :33 2/5 was co-fastest at the Under Tack Show, is out of stakes placed Hay Allison, by Hay Halo.

Carter also consigned Hip No. 494, Edisto Bay, a 3-year-old son of Bullsbay sold to Louis Linder for $72,000. The chestnut colt is out of stakes placed Immune to Gloom, by Citidancer, a half sister to stakes placed Dirge.

Hip No. 498, Foxy Posse, a 3-year-old Posse filly also brought $72,000, going to Mersad Metanovic Bloodstock LLC. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, the chestnut filly, who turned in three eighths in :33 3/5, is out of Just Parker, by Forest Camp, a half sister to stakes winner Stormin’ Lyon.

Patrice Miller, EQB, Inc., Agent for Edward McAlvain, went to 72,000 for Hip No. 504, a 3-year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent. The gray or roan colt, who breezed three eighths in :34 1/5, is out of stakes placed Shaunavon, by El Prado (IRE), a full sister to graded stakes winner Sweet and Ready.

For the Horses of Racing Age section, 70 horses grossed $1,200,700, compared with 98 selling for a total of $1,608,900 last year. The average was $17,153 compared to $16,417 a year ago, while the median was $7,350 compared to $10,000 in 2014. The buyback percentage was 16.7%; it was 21.6% in 2014.

Hip No. 341, a Tiz Wonderful colt consigned by Select Sales, Agent, was sold to Mike Recio, Agent for Rockbridge Bloodstock for $50,000 to top the sale’s Open Session. The chestnut yearling colt, a full bother to stakes winner Bourbonize, is out of Brown Eyes, by Halo’s Image, a half sister to stakes winner CaptainVideo.

Hip No. 366, a son of Put It Back consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, was sold to Nick de Meric, Agent for $40,000. The dark bay or brown yearling colt, a half brother to champion and Horse of the Year Good Ba Ba, is out of Elle Meme, by Zilzal.

Hip No. 266, Bella Couture, a 7-year-old bay mare by Pulpit consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, went to Get Away Farm for $38,000. In foal to Soldat, she’s out of graded stakes winner Sabellina, by Langfuhr.

Hip No. 363, a yearling son of Overdriven consigned by Select Sales, Agent, was sold to  Arindel Farm LLC for $32,000. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Double Bridled, by Broken Vow, a half sister to stakes winner Notgivinmyloveaway.

Hip No. 203, a 4-year-old daughter of Curlin consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, was also sold for $32,000, going to Arboritanza Racing. The chestnut filly, a half sister to stakes placed Lady Malkin, is out of stakes placed Lady Dynasty, by Richter Scale.

For the Open session, 141 horses sold for a total of $1,088,100 compared with 209 horses bringing $1,754,900 in 2014. The average price was $7,717 compared with $8,397 a year ago, while the median price was $4,000 compared with $5,000 last year. The buyback percentage was 16.6%; it was 25.9% in 2014.

Next on the OBS agenda is the March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. With its new expanded format, it is scheduled for March 17 – 18, with the Under Tack Show set for March 11 – 13, beginning each morning at 8:00 a.m.
