It’s the first grade one victory for the 4-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron, who worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before he was purchased for $110,000 by trainer Eddie Plesa out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2012 OBS March Sale. Youngblood’s Avanzare picked up his first stakes win in Arlington’s $150,000 Washington Park Handicap (G3) on Saturday, going right to the front, opening up a daylight lead and hanging on when challenged late to win by a head. Four for eight this year, the 4-year-old Grand Reward gelding improved his record to 9-5-3-0 and has earned $217,180 to date. West Point Thoroughbreds’ Quality Lass went to the lead in the $200,000 Turf Amazon Handicap at Parx Racing on Labor Day and stayed there all the way, holding on gamely to win by a head, with fellow OBS graduate Jewel of a Cat (April ’12) checking in third. It’s the second stakes score for the 5-year-old mare by Exclusive Quality, now 26-8-4-3 with earnings of $415,265.
