Enchanting Lady scores in Santa Anita’s Landaluce Stakes

Kaleem Shah’s Enchanting Lady avenged a loss to Seduire in her May 22 debut in Sunday’s $126, 000 Landaluce Stakes at Santa Anita, chasing that rival to the top of the stretch before putting her away and drawing off to a 6-1/4 length victory. It’s the first win for the 2-year-old daughter of Tale of the Cat, purchased on the recommendation of Bob Baffert and Donato Lanni for $650,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Newtown Anner Stud and Joseph Bulger’s Falling Sky took command of Parx Racing’s $100,000 Donald Levine Memorial turning for home then held off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Mezzano (March ’11) to score by half a length. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Lion Heart, now 13-5-1-1 with earnings of $385,118. The sale topper at the Horses of Racing Age section of the 2013 OBS Winter Mixed Sale, he was purchased for $425,000 out of the Off the Hook consignment. watch his under tack video

Highland Yard LLC’s Amaranth picked up her first stakes win on Sunday in the $56,515 Bet America.com Oaks at Oak Tree at Pleasanton, taking the lead at the break and giving nothing a chance, cruising to a seven length score over seven overmatched rivals. It’s the third straight win for the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. Greeley, purchased for $150,000 by Dominic Brennan on behalf of Highland Yard LLC at the 2013 OBS April Sale after she breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat.
